the short of it

I stumbled into the world of craft blogs several years ago and it was quite a wonderful discovery for me–inspiration and useful information at every corner. After much consideration, I began keeping my own blog. It has been difficult defining my audience, yet I find I most consistently write with my children in mind. Here are a few other reasons why this space exists.

Writing is important to me. In part, this blog is a generalized journal about raising our family and lessons learned along the way. It has become a virtual replacement to the scrapbooks I gave up on years ago. So I certainly share a personal tone here, but I hope it is one which other mothers/women can relate to and be encouraged by as well.

I find satisfaction in making handmade goods and have an equal appreciation for what others craft. The work of a mother and homemaker is not easily quantified. Though mothering is the most important and rewarding work I put my hands to, the results are years in the making. This blog is a space for the tangible outworkings of our days; that includes what we make, cook, ruin, and find meaningful.

Finally, I am a devoted Christ-follower and my faith flavors nearly every fiber of my life. While it will not be the focus of every post, it will certainly be a part of what I gladly share here.

My life takes place in the midwest with 6 children (and another babe on the way), my best friend and husband, and plenty of great family and friends who help us get along.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you’ll say hello and come again!
