The first Yes of this challenge was an easy one. As our fall schedule is now in full throttle, each day is filled to the brim. Consequently, one of my favorite moments of each day is when my head hits my pillow at night. And as autumn’s dark mornings creep in, the most dreaded moment subsequently, becomes lifting my head up again when the alarm rings.
I need to get up before my household does or things get ugly fast. Due to a combination of boring details, this hasn’t been happening and I find myself taking quick bites from the Word and little sips of truth where I can get them. This is great and needed, but I find it is not enough sustaining spiritual nourishment for the energy that is expended here throughout the day. Heaping portions of patience and love are required in motherhood, and if my spiritual tank is half-full then I personally run out of steam quickly.
Romans 12:2 reminds me:
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.
This is a daily feeding and filling. When I only snack, I run out of fuel fast. In sharing this with a friend over the weekend, she offered to call me early (and me, her) to hold each other accountable to get up and meet with the Lord. Knowing she would be calling was the thing that motivated today. Sometimes a kickstart is all that’s needed.
So today I am grateful to have said Yes to meeting long with Him. I pray tomorrow is even easier.Though this Monday morning was far! from perfect, I know where my footing stands and that the encouragement and direction I received from the Word will nourish and strengthen the day.
31 days of Yes! is me dedicating to post each day for the month of October (which is a Yes! in itself) and to find one meaningful Yes! in each day. Over 1200 bloggers are participating thanks to the lovely Nesting Place.
